You should only move foodstuffs that are unopened. Anything opened should be thrown away. Be careful of anything that may leak like oils. You never want to move anything that may attract bugs or rodents if you know you won’t be unpacking it for a while.

Packing your house

Start early! When you pack just 1 or 2 boxes a day from the time you learn you are moving, you will be ready. If you wait to the last minute, your move will be hectic and stressful. Choose being ready!

Recycled boxes

If you decide to use recycled boxes, check them out thoroughly outside your house before you pack them. The last thing you want is to pack a few critters in with your belongings.

Save money on storage moves

When you move into self storage, pick a ground level unit. It takes the movers much less time to accomplish your move. If you will be in storage for 12 months or more, save money by getting an upstairs unit. It cost less per month, and should off set the added move in/ move out cost.

Save money on college moves

Money saving idea for a college move: If 2 or more students are going to the same college/city hire one mover to move them all at one time. Moving is costly for one small move going a distance, but shared among a few families it can be cost-effective and so much easier than lugging it yourself.

NJ Moving Busiest weeks

Moving with clothing in the dressers

You can leave the clothing in the dressers when you move. Remove perfume, jewelry, money and medications. If you are shy, remove anything you don’t want the movers to see.
